On Saturday I took part in the filming of a pop video. The singer/songwriter is a friend of my friend Nel and the shoot was just around the corner from where I live so I went along to see what was happening. I dressed up nice in case they wanted to use me as an extra and of course I was chosen to be a star. Below is a photo of me and Nel on set. I was whispering rude things to her so she would giggle. I was, I believe, looking rather dashing and handsome in a raffish way.
It was lots of fun. There was sandwiches and crisps and chocolate bars and coffee and mineral water and ribena and orange. And there were belly dancers and burlesque dancers and fire-eaters and real professional actors and extras and cameramen and lighting engineers and a director (who referred to me as an "actor") and make-up artists and everything! It was set in a posh nightclub and I had to sit in a chair with Nel on my knee for about three hours while an actor came through the front door. I will probably be in the first 9 or 10 seconds of the video and it is probably my first step on the road to international fame as a renowned thespian. Or something.
The video won't be ready for a couple of months and I can't wait to see it and show it off to everybody.
The song was called Dialing Tone and is an excellent little pop song by Will Kevans. I've been singing it to myself ever since - it's quite an earworm. You can hear it here: www.myspace.com/willkevans
